Wendy Castille is a premier violin pedagogue and a foundational figure in the Orange County arts community. As the Music Director of the OCMD String Ensemble, she brings an elite level of technical expertise and performance experience to Orange County Music and Dance (OCMD), dedicated to mentoring the next generation of world-class string players.

A native of China, Wendy earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance before relocating to the United States in 1990. Driven by a passion for education, she established a private violin studio in California that quickly gained a reputation for excellence, producing accomplished musicians of all ages and skill levels.

Under Wendy’s guidance, students consistently achieve top honors at the most prestigious state and local competitions. Her studio’s track record includes numerous prize winners at:

• MTAC VOCE State Finals

• American String Teachers Association (ASTA)

• Southwestern Youth Music Festival (SYMF)

• Musical Arts Club of Orange County (MACOC)

Notable Performances & Collaborations

Wendy is renowned for providing her students with unparalleled professional stage experience. Most notably, her violin ensemble has been invited to perform with the Pacific Symphony—a top-tier American orchestra—on five separate occasions. These featured performances took place during the symphony’s special Lunar New Year (Love Feast) Concerts at the Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts, reaching audiences of over thousands. 

Vision for the OCMD String Ensemble

In her role at OCMD, Wendy is launching a new era of ensemble training fall of 2025.  By partnering with Orange County Music and Dance, she is creating a high-level environment where dedicated string students can transition from solo mastery to sophisticated ensemble playing. Her mission is to provide young musicians with the collaborative skills and elite performance opportunities necessary to thrive on the global stage.
