Ruben Guzman is an aspiring music educator and proficient jazz guitarist. Recently graduating from College of the Desert with a degree in music, he hopes to continue his education by studying both music education and jazz performance. He has had experience leading both jazz ensembles and contemporary bands, spending three years in Coachella Valley guiding jazz combos at the College of the Desert and teaching at the Academy of Musical Performance.

Outside of school and work, Ruben has spent a large amount of his time teaching music to the children in his community through the help of the Salvation Army. Teaching guitar and brass to the children within the Salvation Army after-school program as well as leading their youth worship band. With his ability to speak both English and Spanish, he was able to help the children in his community understand and grow a passion for music.
