Nicholas Yee

VIOLA
Dr. Nicholaus Yee is a violist, conductor, and music educator with extensive experience in orchestral performance and string education throughout Southern California.
He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, where his studies included concentrations in music education, instrumental conducting, and early music. He also studied viola at the University of California, Santa Barbara with Heiichiro Ohyama, and received his Bachelor of Music from the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Yee served as Coordinator of Strings and Orchestra at the Orange County School of the Arts from 2018-2025, where he oversaw the comprehensive strings program and managed the faculty and curriculum. He has also served as Symphony Orchestra Conductor at Irvine Valley College and as a viola teaching artist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA) program. In addition to his work in institutional programs, he has maintained a long-standing private teaching studio, preparing students for honor orchestras, competitions, and university music programs.
As a performer, Dr. Yee is a member of the Redlands Symphony and maintains an active career as a freelance musician and chamber performer.
