Marla A. Schulz is a curious movement artist whose work creates evocative experiences in the performing arts. She uses movement as a universal entry point into storytelling, and enjoys challenging herself to look at material from different perspectives. Her work has been seen in numerous productions across the country, and she has presented her research at the Association for Theatre in Higher Education conference. As the first-generation daughter of Venezuelan parents, Marla makes work fueled by her interests in identity, cognitive science, and interpersonal relationships. A proud Director’s Lab West alumna (2024), Marla holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and an MFA in Dance from the University of Colorado Boulder.
