Jinah Chung

VIOLIN

Jinah Chung is a professional violinist and music instructor whose musical journey began at the age of three with piano. Growing up in a musical family — her grandmother played piano and violin, and her father played clarinet and flute — music was woven into her life from the start. She took up the violin at twelve, studying it alongside piano and flute.

At fifteen, Jinah had the formative opportunity to study with the late Mrs. Anne Thatcher, an assistant to the legendary Jascha Brodsky of the Curtis Institute. During her youth, she performed with distinguished ensembles including All Southern, All State, OCYSO, La Primavera, and the American Youth Symphony under the direction of the late Mehli Mehta.

Jinah pursued her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, graduating Cum Laude from the University of California, Irvine, where she studied under Mr. Haroutune Bedelian. She then earned her Master of Music in Violin Performance from The Boston Conservatory, studying with Mr. Lynn Chang. Both Mr. Bedelian and Mr. Chang were students of the celebrated pedagogue Ivan Galamian — a lineage that reflects the depth and tradition behind her training.

With over 30 years of teaching experience, Ms. Chung has dedicated herself to nurturing the next generation of musicians. She maintains a private studio working with children and young adults and has served as orchestra instructor at local private elementary and high schools.
