OCMD's spacious 21,000 square-foot facility offers 16 practice rooms, 2 large dance studios, classrooms, fully equipped recording studios, and a 100-seat black box theater. It is conveniently located just a few miles from John Wayne Airport, on the corner of Fitch Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard. OCMD has ample free parking, including plenty of spaces for the handicapped, and is directly adjacent to the OC Transit bus stop.

Johnny’s Den was named in honor of Johnny Byrne, our first percussion teacher.

Black Box Theater
OUR CROWN JEWEL
A 100-seat black box theater with a 21-foot LED screen, Steinway grand piano, professional quality theatrical sound and lighting, and tiered seating. The black box theater is available for short-term rental at very reasonable rates. We cater to individuals, community groups, and arts & educational organizations, all subject to the facility availability and approval.

Located on the second floor, Monkey Business Cafe is open to the public and serves delicious food and organic coffee drinks every Monday through Friday from noon to 5pm.
In addition to being our resident cafe, Monkey Business Cafe is a nonprofit committed to providing marketable employment skills to foster youth. So, when you stop by to indulge in MBC’s mouth-watering pastries, cookies, hot chocolate, or coffee, you are also supporting our mission to make a difference in the lives of young people.

Recording Services
Record your audition with us!
Our professional digital recording studio is ideal for auditions and competitions. We offer video recording services for both music and dance in our spacious Black Box Theater as well as audio recording services in our soundproof studio. Clients work with our professional engineers who help take your project to the next level. We offer a wide range of production, recording, and mixing & mastering services suitable for professional performers and students alike.
MUSIC: VIDEO AUDITION RECORDING
OC Music and Dance provides professional-quality, single-camera recording services for competitions and audition applications, with a Steinway Concert Grand Model D available to pianists.
Our recording packages are very reasonably priced and start at:
One Hour Recording Package: $150 for up to an hour of studio time, and includes up to two MP4 files of your recordings.
Two Hour Recording Package: $250 for up to 2 hours of studio time, and includes up to four MP4 files of your recordings.
Additional studio time may be added for $100/hr. Additional MP4 files are available for $20 each. Please allow one week from the date of your recording session to receive your MP4 files.
DANCE: VIDEO AUDITION RECORDING
Our state-of-the art black box theater is ideal for professional video production, including audition videos for dance competitions, summer intensives, and college admissions. Sessions start at $175 for the first hour, with a minimum one-hour reservation required, and include up to 2 MP4 files. Each hour thereafter costs $75, and includes additional MP4 files.
*Special add-ons include multi-camera options, extra MP4 files, and premium editing services.
AUDIO RECORDING
We also offer professional audio recording services, including a wide range of production, recording, and mixing & mastering services. Our digital recording studio is equipped with professional-quality microphones and gear, and industry standard software.
Prices start at $60 an hour, with a minimum of a one-hour reserved time slot required. Fees are pro-rated in 1/2 hour increments after the 1st hour. Additional fees for mixing time may apply.
How To Request A Video Audition or Audio Recording Session
We want you to have a great recording experience! In order to ensure a productive session, please follow these Helpful Tips:
1. For music recordings, make sure to bring your music score to refer to during the recording.
2. The recording process can be challenging, so make sure you come adequately prepared and have your music or dance memorized.
3. If you are doing a video audition recording, we do not recommend black clothing, since it does not appear well on video.
