Record your audition with us!
Our professional digital recording studio is ideal for auditions and competitions. We offer video recording services for music in our Theater space, dance in our dance studio space, as well as audio recording services in our sound studio. Clients work with our professional engineers who help take your project to the next level. We offer a wide range of production, recording, and mixing & mastering services suitable for professional performers and students alike.
Music: Video Audition Recording
OC Music and Dance provides professional-quality, single-camera recording services for competitions and audition applications, with a Steinway Concert 9-ft Grand Model D available to pianists.
Our recording packages are very reasonably priced and start at:
Two Hour Recording Package: $300 for up to 2 hours of studio time, and includes up to four MP4 files of your recordings. Recommended for musicians recording 2-4 pieces. Musicians with more repertoire should plan on booking multiple sessions.
One Hour Recording Package: $180 for up to an hour of studio time, and includes up to two MP4 files of your recordings. Recommended for musicians recording 1-2 shorter pieces.
Additional MP4 files are available for $20 each. Our standard file delivery turnaround is approximately one week from the date you confirm your selected takes. Additional fees apply for rush service or for schedule changes after booking is confirmed.

Q. What kind of service is included in the Video Recording packages for music?
A. Our standard service is ideal for auditions, competitions, and exams. We record with a single camera and multiple microphones that capture the musician's performance with a high-quality sound. (Please note that requests for post-production pitch adjustment or note corrections are not accepted for audition and competition recordings.)
Q. What deliverables are included with my recording booking?
A. Our 1-hour recording package includes two MP4 video files. Our 2-hour recording package includes four MP4 video files. If you need additional videos on top of those included in your package, they are available for $20 each. Please allow one week from the date you inform us of your selected takes to receive your files. Rush service for last-minute or holiday bookings and expedited file delivery is available for an additional fee.
Q. Will I get to listen to my performances before selecting the version I like best for the final video file?
A. In general, we ask performers to choose their preferred takes before leaving the recording studio. At the recording engineer's discretion, we may provide audio-only versions of your performances for home review.
Q. What are the rush fees and change/cancellation fees?
A $25 cancellation/rebooking fee will apply for changes made to sessions after the booking confirmation email has been sent.
Holiday/Rush Booking Fee: $50
File Delivery Rush Fee (per MP4): 3-day $10 | 48-hr $25 | 24-hr $50
Q. What piano do you have?
A. We have a Steinway 9-ft Concert Grand Model D.
Q. I am recording the entirety of a multi-movement work. Does this piece count as one file, or multiple files?
A. If you are performing the entire work straight through, it will count as one file. If stopping the camera between movements, each movement will be counted as its own file. (Multi-movement works recorded in this way may either be delivered as four separate videos, or edited into one video containing all movements, depending on the client’s preference.)
Q. How many times can I play through my piece during the recording session?
A. You may record as many takes as needed over the duration of your session, unless your audition, exam, or competition rules specify otherwise.
Q. Can I choose the LED background wall color?
A. Yes. We have a wide selection of backgrounds for you to choose from.
Q. When is the studio open for music recordings?
A. The OCMD recording studio is open by reservation only on most weekend afternoons and evenings, as well as select weeknights. All booking inquiries are pending the recording engineer's availability.
Q. Are recording services available for concerts or recitals with a live audience?
A. Yes. Please note that standard video recording rates may not apply; please contact our coordinator for a custom quote.
Dance: Video Audition Recording
Our dance studio spaces are ideal for professional video production, including audition videos for dance competitions, summer intensives, and college admissions. Sessions start at $175 for the first hour, with a minimum one-hour reservation required, and include up to 2 MP4 files. Each hour thereafter costs $75, and includes additional MP4 files.
*Special add-ons include multi-camera options, extra MP4 files, and premium editing services.

Audio Recording
We also offer professional audio recording services, including a wide range of production, recording, and mixing & mastering services. Our digital recording studio is equipped with professional-quality microphones and gear, and industry standard software.
Prices start at $60 an hour, with a minimum of a two-hour reserved time slot required. Fees are pro-rated in 1/2 hour increments after the 2nd hour. Additional fees for mixing time may apply.

A. Our audio recordings are billed per hour for both studio time as well as post-production and editing services, if required. One audio engineer will work with you to complete your recording.
Q. I have some complex technical requirements. Is your studio the right facility for my project?

How To Request A Video Audition or Audio Recording Session
We want you to have a great recording experience! In order to ensure a productive session, please follow these Helpful Tips:
1. The recording process can be challenging, so make sure you come well-prepared and have your music or dance memorized if required by your audition or competition rules.
2. For music recordings, make sure to bring your music to refer to during the session, even if you are performing from memory.
3. If you are doing a video audition recording, we do not recommend all-black clothing, since it does not appear well on video. Please also avoid articles with loose glitter.
