There Are Two Ways to Learn

Private Lessons

The most important component of any music curriculum is individual instruction. In private lessons students are taught instrumental technique as well as repertoire for their instruments. Most beginning students experience their first taste of music performance through the one on one experience. For more experienced students, individual instruction enhances their knowledge of both the instrument and the repertoire as well as continues to perfect technique. Individual instruction is offered in 30, 45 and 60 minute lessons according to the age and performance level of the student. Students meet with their instructors once a week in 30, 45 or 60 minute lessons.

Ensembles

The ability to play music with others is not only a rewarding experience, but also very helpful in the development of basic music skills. In an ensemble, one learns how to play in strict time and also becomes aware of how their part interacts with other parts. Students also learn how to interact with each other as they rehearse and perform together. These ensemble experiences help foster meaningful relationships and create a sense of community with all those involved. Ensembles may be either small chamber groups or larger ensembles. Students should be proficient at their instrument before joining an ensemble, and must have the approval of the instructor.
