STUDENT POLICIES
Code of Conduct
Health & Safety
Video camera are placed in all teaching spaces and common areas to provide a safe learning environment.
Please drive slowly (5 MPH) through the parking lot and park in a marked
stall prior to escorting your children into OCMD. Please do not allow children to wander the parking lot alone.
Children or siblings not participating in OCMD lessons or classes must always be supervised by a parent or guardian.
OCMD assumes no liability for any damage to or theft of personal property.
Please stay home if you are ill. Reach out to you instructor as soon as possible to reschedule your upcoming lesson (See attendance policy for more information).
General Conduct
Food and drinks other than bottled water are not permitted in practice rooms, classrooms or the Black Box Theater.
Trained service animals are welcome. Please leave pets and other animals
at home. DO NOT leave animals in parked cars on OCMD property.
Walk when indoors. Roller skates, skateboards, Heelys, etc. are not permitted at OCMD.
Alcohol, smoking or and drugs are not permitted on OCMD property.
Bullying and other disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.
Liability Waver
I am fully aware of and appreciate that, despite all reasonable precautions implemented for safety, there are risks, including the risk of illness (including Covid 19), injury, paralysis, and even death, as well as other damages and losses associated with participation in programs or activities and in being present in any environment. I am aware of these risks and knowingly and willingly assume all such risks. Consequently, I hereby for myself, heirs, executors and administrators, do waive and release any and all rights and claims for damages against the owners, operators, employees, and other members of OC Music and Dance from personal injury or accident of any sort or nature suffered by me, the undersigned, or by my child, by reason of presence at OC Music and Dance or participation in any OC Music and Dance classes or lessons.
Medical Treatment Authorization
In the event of injury or illness during my child’s participation at OC Music and Dance, I hereby authorize OC Music and Dance to consent to medical treatment on my or my child’s behalf as deemed necessary on the advice of trained emergency personnel. I agree that it is my responsibility to obtain and maintain health insurance coverage for myself or my child prior to participation with OC Music and Dance and that I am responsible for any medical expenses arising out of any injury to claim to occur during participation.
Permission to Photograph
By enrolling in OC Music and Dance, I give permission for my child to be photographed (including still, video, and sound) as a participant in programs at OC Music and Dance. I consent to the reproduction, use and distribution thereof for any educational purpose and for promotion, advertising, trade, and outright bragging about OC Music and Dance programs, activities, and its students, without compensation. To revoke this permission, please contact Lindsay Peckham, Director of Student Accounts and Relations.
Student Attendance Policy
OCMD’s attendance and rescheduling policies below are set to protect the interests of both instructors and students.
Students are expected to arrive on time for every lesson and class and be prepared with their music, instrument, and materials. Lessons and classes may not be extended for students arriving late.
Students may cancel a lesson by logging into their account. If the lesson is cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the original lesson they will be given a makeup credit. You may not have more than 2 makeup credits on your account at any one time.
Students may cancel a class by logging into their account. This will open a spot for another student to drop in to that class. You will still remain on the class roster and will be expected to return the for next class.
Students may reschedule a makeup credit by logging into their account. All makeups must be scheduled and used by the end of the current session or they will be forfeited (not eligible for refund or credit).
If students are not present for a scheduled private lesson, or if they cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, the lesson fee will be forfeited (not eligible for refund or credit).
Once per Session, students may make up one no show or late cancellation due to illness or emergency during Make Up Week.
Tuition credit will be offered for instructor absences that were not made up by the end of each Session.
Refunds, tuition credits, makeups and reschedules are not available for missed group classes. When you cancel a class, or do not show up for the class, your fee for the class will be forfeited.
If an instructor cannot attend a class, the class will be made up on the next scheduled make up week.
*Note: rescheduling availability is not guaranteed.
Repeated absences and/or tardiness may result in dismissal from the faculty member’s studio or class.
Withdrawing from OCMD’s School of Music
Students wishing to discontinue lessons must notify both their instructor and Lindsay Peckham, Director of Student Accounts and Relations, at least 2 weeks prior to their final lesson.
Families will be asked to complete a Withdrawal Form prior to the final lesson.
Families will receive a refund or OCMD account credit (valid for one year)for future paid lessons not yet received.
Any pending makeup lessons are not eligible for refund or credit.
Students who withdraw and re-enroll within the same academic year will be charged a $25 Re-enrollment Fee.
Please note that OCMD cannot hold your position or lesson time in the faculty member’s studio.
