Dr. Nicholaus Yee is a violist, conductor, and music educator with extensive experience in orchestral performance and string education throughout Southern California. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, where his studies included concentrations in music education, instrumental conducting, and early music. He also completed graduate studies in viola at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and received his Bachelor of Music from the University of California, Irvine.  

Dr. Yee currently serves as Coordinator of Strings and Orchestra at the Orange County School of the Arts, where he oversees the comprehensive strings program, manages faculty and curriculum, and conducts both the String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra. He has also served as Symphony Orchestra Conductor at Irvine Valley College and as a viola teaching artist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA) program. In addition to his work in institutional programs, he has maintained a long-standing private teaching studio, preparing students for honor orchestras, competitions, and university music programs.  

As a performer, Dr. Yee has appeared with ensembles including the Redlands Symphony, San Bernardino Symphony, and Pacific Symphony as a substitute violist, while also maintaining an active career as a freelance musician and chamber performer.
