Out of the Box Student Music Recitals
Join us for Out of the Box, a music recital series for intermediate and advanced instrumentalists and chamber ensembles. Students in Elementary through High School have the opportunity to showcase their talents in a public concert broadcast.
Students work with professional OCMD recording staff to pre-record their selected pieces in our Black Box Theater. The full concert is streamed the following Saturday via YouTube to family, friends, and the OCMD community.
In addition to the recording and performance opportunity itself, recital participants receive:
A multi-camera video of their performance,
An unedited, single-camera video of their performance (great for auditions!),
Performer headshot photo, and
A link to the broadcast to share with friends and family.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Eligible students may apply by completing an online application and submitting a link to their video audition for the piece(s) they plan to perform at the recital. Video audition guidelines:
Pieces should be selected from standard classical repertoire.
Applicants may select 1 or 2 pieces (or 2 movements of a work) with a combined duration not exceeding 7 minutes.
The video must show the applicant performing their selected pieces.
For selections requiring accompaniment, the accompaniment should be included in the video.
Videos may be recorded at home (e.g. with a phone).
An application fee of $10 is due with the application submission, payable online by credit card.

NOTIFICATION
Applicants will be notified by email if they have been selected for an Out of the Box performance. Details regarding scheduled recording date/time and instructions for payment of recital fees will be included.
RECORDING AND ACCOMPANIMENT
Selected participants have 10 minutes to warm up on stage, followed by 20 minutes to complete their recording. For an additional fee ($30), OCMD may provide an accompanist. The fee includes a run-through rehearsal during the warm-up period and the performance.

Application Fee: $10.00
Soloist Participant Performance Fee: $60.00
Ensemble Participant Performance Fee: $25.00 per ensemble member
Accompanist Fee: $30.00
