OPERATION GIG
FREE Songwriting workshop
Put your basic skills on Piano or Guitar to creating a song that is your very own!
With classes taught by Nels “Nelson” Jenstad, ASCAP composer member
Wednesdays | 6:30 - 8:00 PM
8 weeks starting July 17, 2024
OC Music & Dance, Irvine, CA (Map)
In this 8-week class for US Military Veterans, we will cover some basics about chord groups and how a melody or vocal line might fit with them.
We’ll start with concepts of notes, scales, and chords as we apply them to beginning songwriting. We will look at types of chords for piano and guitar. We will discuss ideas on how to get your song started and shed some light on things that may give you an edge in this exciting and inventive area of music.
In a couple of weeks, we will start “hatching” some of our ideas and look at song sections, such as verses and choruses. We are not looking for “complicated” music, but ways to learn how to have the ideas flow along with a tempo.
Often the simpler songs are some of the best ones. Let’s have fun building some musical ideas and Instructor Nelson Jenstad will assist you in getting it going. Class size is limited to 8 students, so catch this rare opportunity while it’s available!
