Jasmine Star: Student to Superstar

A GUITAR PHENOMENON

Jasmine Star, our electric guitar prodigy, at age 17 is rocking our world as she climbs higher to stardom. She recently became one of the top 5 finalists for Guitar World’s 2020 Young Guitarist contest. Jasmine is an OCMD alumni, she is classically trained in piano and has been playing guitar since she was 9 years old. Her musical education at OCMD gave her the opportunity to perform (at age 14) alongside Marten Andersson, from the rock band Steelheart at the From Classical to Rock event. Since then, she has grown in popularity and skill as she shares her jam covers on social media. She has gained over 1M on Tik Tok with her impressive guitar collaborations and tributes to her favorite rockstars including Eddie Van Halen and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

“I can see the notes in my head as I play them”

Jasmine Star spoke with Marci Wiser on 95.5 KLOS about her new single, Tide and her anticipated win as Guitar World’s Best Young Guitarist. She has already started filming a studio series called Jasmine Jams on their site. During her interview with Wiser, she discusses her early start with music, her passion for songwriting, and her creative process. She humbly believes, “whoever can chase current pop culture and draw people into that feeling of rock” will be the next big superstar in the rock n’ roll scene. She is well on her way to becoming a leading female in rock music. We are so proud of all her accomplishments and cannot wait to see what she pursues in her future endeavors!

Listen to her discuss the release of her first original studio single, Tide.
