OCMD POP ACADEMY: Full Course
Pop Vocal Performance Workshop: Singing a song and performing your song are two very different skill sets. It is imperative that performers learn how to do both together at the same time if they want to be successful in the music industry. In this class, students will start with vocalizing warm ups and light technique training. They learn about stage presence and how to engage the audience. They will learn how to use their body, hands, eyes and emotions when singing. Students will also learn how to use a microphone, project confidence and how/where to stand on a stage. They will learn how to command the audience's attention when singing, with vocal power and laser focus. This class also involves vocal training & technique training as well as pop vocalizing skills. Another unique feature of this is training on how to bring a pop approach to musical theater and transitioning from one genre to the other. Please note that this workshop will not meet 6/2, but will meet 6/9. This workshop is taught by Julian Miranda.Pop Song Writing Workshop: In this class, students will learn how to write their own pop songs. Instructors will show students how to take emotions, experiences or poems and turn them into songs. Students will also learn about music publishing companies and licensing. Pop song writing will be taught by Julia Ross.Recording Studio Workshop: Students will work with our professional pop producers in the state of the art recording studio and will learn the vital skills and protocols to convey professionalism while recording in the studio.
