OCMD POP ACADEMY: Recording Studio Workshop

Students will work with our professional pop producers in the state of the art recording studio and will learn the vital skills and protocols to convey professionalism while recording in the studio.Students will also learn their way around the recording studio, what things do, and how they operate. The instructor will explain Logic and ProTools in steps, and will explain how to record music, beats, and vocals.Additionally, students will learn mixing, mastering, melodies, logic, and how to use a studio mic. Each student will record their own song by the end of this course, and learn how to find a producer and or a record deal. Each student will learn how to upload their songs to platforms such as iTunes, Spotify & Amazon Music. Space for this class is limited!

OCMD POP ACADEMY: Pop Vocal Performance Workshop

Singing a song and performing your song are two very different skill sets. It is imperative that performers learn how to do both together at the same time if they want to be successful in the music industry. In this class, students will start with vocalizing warmups and light technique training. They learn about stage presence and how to engage the audience. They will learn how to use their body, hands, eyes and emotions when singing. Students will also learn how to use a microphone, project confidence and how/where to stand on a stage. They will learn how to command the audience's attention when singing, with vocal power and laser focus. This class also involves vocal training & technique training as well as pop vocalizing skills. Another unique feature of this is training on how to bring a pop approach to musical theater and transitioning from one genre to the other. Student will have an opportunity to perform in front of the Academy's panel of professional songwriters, producers, A&R and professional pop artists. Students will receive actionable advice and constructive input about their performance, song choice, artistry, image, vocal skill and stage presence. This is NOT A COMPETITION. This is solely for the purpose of strengthening each student's awareness of their craft and giving direction on how to be the best they can be as a singer, producer, writer and performer/entertainer. All parents are invited to participate this day.In addition to the performance aspect, students will be introduced the the incredible world of social media. Students learn how to build and maintain their personal brand, library of songs, and the public image and identity. Students will learn how to get followers and promote their music via YouTube, Instagram, and other social media platforms, as well as the power and utility of hash tagging and key points to help boost an artist's social media presence. Students will also learn how to monetize their posts.Lastly, students will be educated on how to seek a manager or agent. Students will learn the difference between the two, how to find a reliable manager or agent, and what is to be expected from each.

This class will teach students about the importance of harmony, not only for singing their own back up vocals on their records/demos or EPs, but also prepare for the possibility of getting a job as a back up singer for another artist.
