Calling All Vets!  It’s Time to Rock, Groove, Jive, and Jam!

Get your friends together for some good times at OC Music and Dance. All styles of music welcome! Bring your instruments, your repertoire and get ready to make some music.

• Onsite or online 8-week sessions
• Ensembles of 4 – 10 musicians
• 90-minute rehearsals once per week
• Professional coaching from OCMD faculty
• Performance opportunities (Live or Live-streamed) in our Black Box Theater

FREE to Veterans.  No Audition Necessary.

Participants will be placed in ensembles of 4-10 musicians. While there is no audition required to participate in Operation Gig, we will do our best to place you with a group of musicians with similar skills, experience, and musical interests. Each band will select their own band leader, who will be responsible for rehearsal organization and repertoire selection.

Placement decisions aim to create the right balance of instruments and vocalists needed for the different musical genres. If you want to play in the same band with friends and colleagues, just let us know. We’ll do our best to make that happen.

How to Apply

You must be either a member on active duty in the U.S. military or a U.S. military veteran. Family members, including your spouse, children or grandchildren are also eligible, if each meets the requirements below and there is space available in the band to which you are assigned. Play the Music You Love!

The type of music your band chooses is entirely up to your band and its leader. OC Music and Dance will assist in securing the score and lyrics you require, as long as the scores are published and available for purchase. Your band may also choose to perform songs written by band members, friends, or family.

Rehearsals & Performances

Once your band is organized, your band leader will work with our team to set your rehearsal and coaching schedule. While we can’t guarantee your schedule in advance, we’ll do our best to take into consideration your preferred times and days.  Rehearsals run for eight weeks. Week nine features either a live concert or a virtual, live-streamed concert from our Black Box Theater.
