Early Childhood Classes For Ages 18 Months – 5 Years

Your health and safety is our number one priority! Read our Health & Safety protocols.

Our “Little Stars” Early Childhood Program offers the opportunity for parents and children to bond through music and movement while preparing our very young students for a lifetime of learning.

Parent/Guardian participation is required for Little Stars 1 and 2. In Little Stars 3, parents/guardians are given weekly updates and activities but no longer participate during class, allowing children to grow in their independent learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can my child and I start anytime?

Absolutely! Enrollment for all Little Stars classes is ongoing, so as long as there is space available in a class you are welcome to join. Tuition will be prorated for late enrollments.

2. I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old, but no babysitter. Can I bring both of my children to class?

If you have two children of different ages with only one adult parent/guardian who is able to attend the class, the child of a different age from the class will be allowed to be in the classroom as long as they are able to entertain themselves quietly and are not disruptive to the class.

3. I am registering two children for one class. Does there need to be one adult per child?

If you have two children of the same age and wish to attend an early childhood class we suggest bringing a second adult parent/guardian to the class. If this is not possible we will allow one adult parent/guardian to attend with two children as long as the adult parent/guardian is able to attend to both children.

4. How large are your classes?

Due to current public health and safety concerns, classes are limited to 5 student/guardian pairs or 7 individual students to ensure physical distancing.

5. Do I need to participate in class?

Yes. For Little Stars Levels 1 and 2, every adult parent/guardian is expected to fully participate in all class activities. You are your child’s most important role model, so your enthusiastic participation is the best way to encourage your little star to shine! In Little Stars 3, students attend class independently and parents will be given weekly updates and at-home activities.

6. What if I don’t sing or dance well?

That’s totally fine! No music or dance experience/talent is needed to be an awesome role model for your little star.

7. What do I wear to class?

Please wear clothing you are able to move comfortably in and remove shoes before entering the classroom. During class we will be sitting on the floor, standing, moving, and grooving! (no revealing clothing or inappropriate messages)

8. Can I take pictures/videos during class?

To keep our classroom distraction-free and stay focused on what matters – our little stars – we ask that all cell phones, cameras, etc. are on silent mode and put away during class time. If you would like pictures/videos of your little star, please let the instructor know and we will happily accommodate staging photos/videos before or after class.

9. What happens if I miss a class?

If you are unable to attend a class for any reason please notify OCMD in advance (if possible) so the instructor is aware you and your child will not be in attendance. The missed class can be made up by attending a different class of the same age level.

10. What programs are available for my child after age 5?

When your child is ready to graduate from OCMD’s Little Stars classes, your child is welcome to enroll in any of our beginning level music and/or dance classes. Our program is designed to allow the smoothest transition possible for your child from Little Stars to OCMD’s other programs.
