Manager, OCMD String Ensemble
David Chang currently serves in IT Management at a global Financial Services and Investment firm headquartered in Los Angeles, California, where he brings strong leadership, strategic planning, and organizational expertise to complex technology initiatives. Beyond his professional role, he maintains a deep passion for music and the arts and is an amateur violinist.
Drawing upon over three decades of management experience and his love for music, David has successfully led and coordinated a large group of amateur (and some professional) musicians dedicated to community service through music. He has played a central role in repertoire selection, organizing performances, managing logistics, and building a sustainable network of volunteers who generously contribute their time and talent. Under his leadership, the group has performed at numerous venues throughout California and produced charity concerts supporting disaster relief efforts for earthquake and tsunami victims in China, Taiwan, and Japan. Their fundraising initiatives have also supported community outreach programs across the LA/OC areas.
In partnership with organizations such as New Hope for Disadvantaged Children and Bridging Hope, David has overseen fundraising efforts benefiting orphanages for mentally disabled and disadvantaged children in Vietnam. In 2015, through collaboration with the VietDreams charity organization, he helped coordinate a campaign that raised over $15,000 to install water filtration systems in schools across underserved regions of Vietnam.
At OCMD, David has also served as the OCMD Quartet's organizer and coach for the past 9 years. He is responsible for choosing repertoire, coaching/rehearsing with the Quartet which has performed at numerous charity and special events at Nixon Library, Bowers Museum and other venues throughout Orange County.
David has also directed charitable contributions to OCMD, personally and through his company, Capital Group’s charity program, organizing numerous benefit concerts hosted at OCMD. In addition to securing donations, he has played a key role in music selection, rehearsals, coaching and other activities to ensure each event’s success.
He currently serves as manager of the OCMD String Ensemble in its inaugural season.
David has passed on this love of music to his sons, Brian and Brendan, both of whom have been violinists in the Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles as well as the OCMD Quartet and other youth ensembles. They have shared their music at numerous benefit events and have performed at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Musikverein in Vienna, Smetana Hall in Prague, The Royal Festival Hall in London, and others.
