Weekly Rehearsals, Coaching, and Battle of the Bands!

Project Beat offers OC law enforcement officers and their family members the opportunity to join a small ensemble (4-10 musicians) from your city’s police department or sheriff’s station or substation.  Each 8-week Project Beat session includes one 90-minute rehearsal per week, professional coaching from OCMD faculty, and our exclusive LEO Battle of the Bands!

Bring Your Instruments, Your Repertoire, and 4-10 Inspired Musicians!

If your department can assemble a group of 4-10 musicians who love to play and want to perform, including family members who are at least 16 years of age, we can make it happen!  We are encouraging each department or station to establish its own band.  When you apply, please clearly identify your unit and any other participating officers or deputies with whom you would like to play. Each officer or deputy sheriff must enroll individually.

Compete to Win $1,000 and the Title of Best LEO Band in OC!

All Project Beat participants are eligible to compete in our Battle of the Bands, to take place at an outdoor venue (TBD) in Orange County. The winning band will receive a $1,000 cash prize and the enviable title of Best LEO Band in Orange County.

Play the Music You Love!

The type of music your band chooses is entirely up to your band and its leader. OC Music and Dance will assist in securing the score and lyrics you require, as long as the scores are published and available for purchase. Your band may also choose to perform songs written by band members, friends, or family.

Rehearsals & Battle of the Bands!

Once your band is organized, your band leader will work with our team to set your rehearsal and coaching schedule. Rehearsals run for eight weeks. The program concludes with our Battle of the Bands, open to all participants who want to win $1,000 cash and be named Best LEO Band in OC!
