Pianist Daniil Trifonov plays a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR

 |  Video

The great Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov — called “without question the most astounding pianist of our age” by the Times of London — plays on the latest Tiny Desk Concert at NPR. In place of the usual upright, they had to wedge a grand piano into the small office/performing space. This was recorded on Jan. 12, 2018.

His 15-minute program is as follows:

Chopin: “Fantaisie-Impromptu, Op. 66”

Schumann: “Chopin. Agitato” (from Carnaval)

Grieg: “Hommage à Chopin, Op. 73, No. 5”

Chopin: “Variations on ‘Là ci darem la mano’ (from Mozart’s Don Giovanni) – Coda. Alla Polacca”
