CLARINET

Ryan Nguyen is a clarinetist from Garden Grove, CA and currently is on scholarship pursuing degrees in Clarinet Performance and Music Education at CSUF, studying under Dr. Michael Yoshimi, Dr. Dustin Barr, and Dr. Gregory X. Whitmore. As a performer, Ryan regularly performs with the CSUF Wind Symphony, Symphonic Winds, Symphony Orchestra, and is a freelancing orchestral musician. In recent years, he has been a pioneer of new music and a champion of Vietnamese music in Garden Grove. His pedagogy is rooted in guiding students to build a love of music and find their voices through fundamental technique and musicianship. Students of his have gone on to be accepted to notable ensembles such as the SCSBOA All Southern Honor Bands, the CASMEC All State Honor Bands, and regional youth symphony orchestras. Ryan’s students have been accepted to collegiate music programs with scholarships to CSUF, Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, and the Chapman College of Performing Arts.
