Food Drive Supporting OC Food Bank

WHEN: Saturday, November 21  |  Noon to 2 PM

WHERE:  OC Music and Dance 17620 Fitch Ave. Suite 160, Irvine, CA 92614

OC Music & Dance is excited to team up with families to thank our local heroes and reach out and help those who are in need. Pre-register and attend our Thank a Hero. Become a Hero. event on Saturday, November 21st. This fun and safe, socially-distanced event will feature opportunities for students to thank their heroes and become heroes themselves. Use the link below to reserve your spot today!

Earlier in November, OCMD students wrote thank you notes celebrating their personal heroes to be displayed on our tree in South Coast Plaza’s inaugural “Pavilion of Holiday Trees.” Now, we’d like to continue our spirit of gratitude by directly thanking our local first responders here in Irvine with letters and art from our students.

On November 21, students will have the opportunity to write notes, draw pictures, and create works of art for local law enforcement officers and firefighters that will be hand delivered to show our appreciation and bring a smile to their faces.

Did you know that everyday an estimated 450,000 people in Orange County experience food insecurity? This means these individuals and families do not know where their next meal is coming from. Become a hero and donate canned and other non-perishable food items to our drive. Together, we can make an immediate impact.

Just check out the list of acceptable items below, check your pantry or pick up some items on your next trip to the grocery store, and then drop them off at our November 21st event or any weekday starting November 16th.

What kind of food can we collect?

Food needs to be unopened and non-perishable. Please bring items in a bag or box.

Canned meat/fish*

Canned fruit/vegetables*

Peanut butter*

Dry foods (beans, pastas, rice, cereal)*

Healthy Snacks (granola, nuts, dried fruit)

Olive /Canola Oil

* OC Food Bank’s most needed items.

As a bonus, for each food item a student brings, one raffle ticket will be entered in their name for a chance to win an awesome prize! The winner will be announced at the end of the event, and can pick up their prize the following week.

Craft Activities & Fun

In addition to our food drive, students will have the opportunity to decorate their own mask or shield at our family craft stations, and pose as a super hero for a photo opportunity in our in-house theater.

Can’t make it on November 21?

If you’d like to contribute your own thank you note or work of art to be delivered to local heroes, but cannot attend on November 21, please deliver them to one of our friendly hosts on your next visit. We will also be accepting canned food items all week. Look for the collection box to the right of the host desk.

How to Get Involved Behind-The-Scenes

To make this day a success, we are excited to involve our parents and faculty in organizing and orchestrating this event. If you are able to provide art supplies or refreshments, or if you’re available to volunteer on the day of the event, we’d greatly appreciate your involvement.
