Music Skills Classes (Sight Reading, Music Theory, Ear Training)
Beginning Music Skills – Ages 9 & Up
Fridays 1/31 – 5/29. 5:00PM – 6:00PM
This class is a supplement for the beginning student in any instrument, and focuses on sight-reading, rhythmic skill (including ensemble playing), and identifying scales and intervals. At the end of the course, students will be able to fluently read melodies from the staff, as well as to transcribe melodies that they hear.
Intermediate Music Skills – Ages 9 & Up
This class is recommended for students with 3 or more years of private music lessons.
Fridays 1/31 – 5/29. 4:00PM – 5:00PM
For young musicians with several years of experience, this expands on the concepts introduced in the beginner class, as well as introducing scales, chords, and harmony. We also begin to analyze pieces of music from various periods and styles, from both a harmonic and historical perspective. Enrollment in this class must be approved by the instructor.
